Getting "connection refused" when accessing variables as script inputs

Digging into the docker logs I see a couple errors:

I'm self hosting the non-ee version. Things were working and then were suddenly not for reasons I'm not sure of - possibly a container update. The variable is definitely defined.

This all turned out to be from a bad/unexpected proxy config in my docker install
